Overview
An Epic Willow Analyst specializes in optimizing and supporting the Epic Willow modules (pharmacy-related systems in Epic EHR) through design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting across healthcare environments. They ensure seamless medication workflows and user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, implement, and maintain Epic Willow modules (e.g., Willow Inpatient, Ambulatory, Inventory)
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists, clinical staff, and IT for workflow design, optimization, and issue resolution
- Troubleshoot user issues, configuration challenges, and system glitches; provide ongoing support post-implementation
- Conduct root cause analysis, identify solutions, document, and implement changes
- Lead or support go-lives, upgrades, system changes, and user training initiatives.
- Prepare training materials, system documentation, flowcharts, and reports detailing configuration and workflow logic
- Serve as a liaison between end-users (pharmacy, clinicians) and InfoSystems teams, fostering trust and clear communication
- Participate in change and project management; support small to medium-scale Epic Willow projects
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field (Associates + experience may substitute in some cases)

Certifications: Epic Willow module certification (Inpatient, Ambulatory, Inventory); some employers require certification upon hire or within a set timeframe (e.g., 120 days)

Experience: Typically 3+ years in Epic roles; variations across levels (I, II, III) depending on seniority

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflows, inventory management, Epic configurations, interfaces, and general EHR operations

Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, effective communication, documentation, training capability, stakeholder engagement, flexibility, and ownership of assignments
